哈佛的校训

哈佛最早的校训是Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae，英文为Truth for Christ and the Church，意为“追求*教与教会意义上的真”。由此人们可以看出哈佛在最初建立时和宗教的密切关系。

后来，随着哈佛的世俗化以及与宗教脱离关系，这句话也就自然而然地简化成了一个词—Veritas。这个词经常被人翻译为“真理”，因为它不仅是“真理”，也有“真实”、“*”等意思。
